Courses

All courses are within the confines of Western Australia.  Generally, they are within a 4 hour drive from the Perth city CBD.

Short Courses

"An Off Road event conducted on a circuit not exceeding 15 km in length." (CAMS 1999 Manual of Motor Sport).  Short course events are generally held on a Saturday afternoon/evening and consist of timed laps determining the winning car in each class.  Additional races are conducted to determine overall "tin-top" class and "buggy" class winners.  Note that classes can be combined if entries in a particular class are deemed to few.

Scrutineering is usually conducted directly prior to the event start, at each course.  There are usually several breaks during the evening for such things as track watering (to keep the dust down), recalculation of the starting order and dinner.

Long Courses

"An Off Road event, normally of at least 100 km, conducted on a circuit which should not be less than 15 km in length." (CAMS 1999 Manual of Motor Sport).

Long course events are generally held over long weekends and consist of timed laps determining the winning car in each class.  Average lap length is about 40 km and cars are required to complete up to 10 laps.  These laps are usually done in a 2-4-4 spread; 2 laps on Saturday afternoon, 4 on Sunday morning, a 1 hr break, and then the remaining 4.  Note that classes can be combined if entries in a particular class are deemed to few.  Scrutineering is usually conducted at the event, or possibly 1 week prior, at a specified location.
