4	Modified 2WD	up to 6000cc	1 or 2	401 - 499	Includes 'Trucks' and 'Baja' models. Usually these cars run a space-frame chassis under a fibreglass body (baja models must retain the original shell) with basically unlimited modifications allowed.
5	Production 2WD	up to 6000cc	1 or 2	501 - 599	Cars must be built up from an existing production vehicle. Modifications allow for any engine/gearbox/differential combination, so long as the original layout concept is retained (i.e. if the car had a front mounted engine, the engine must remain in the front of the car) and the original silhouette is retained. Depending on entry numbers, some event organisers may split this class into 5A sub-2000cc and 5B 2001cc-6000cc sub-classes and award trophies accordingly.
6	Challenger Buggy	up to 1650cc	2	601 - 699	Cars must run a VW engine.
7	Production 4WD	up to 6000cc	1 or 2	701 - 799
8	Modified 4WD	up to 6000cc	2	801 - 899
9	Buggy	up to 6000cc	1	901 - 999	Single seat version of Class 1.

2007 and beyond...

This is the structure as of the start of the 2007 competition. Not a lot has changed, aside from joining classes 1 and 9 and then splitting them based on engine capacity, and a new name for each class. Of course, with the new two-digit numbering for the 'Pro Buggy' class, it's no longer possible to simply use the first digit of a car number to figure out which class it's in. Not really a problem for most people, but the stats required quite a bit of work to 'fix'.
