Breakages
With any luck, there won't be a lot of entries on this page... (hmmm; spoke to soon)Panel Damage
![]() |
Fibreglass panels might make the truck look the part, but in reality it would be better if they all fell off within 100m of the start line. The problem is mostly one of weight, particularly with the under-side of the rears getting covered in a thick layer of mud. This particular damage was the result of rolling the car at the Hyden 2006 event. Once upon a time we made a couple of fibreglass fenders for the Datsun. That experience taught me that fibreglassing should be left for someone that does it all the time. It's a messy job, using semi-nasty chemicals, everything stinks for ages afterwards of resin, and the clean-up is a pain. Urgggg... |
Timing Belt

This is the remains of the timing belt after the Mogumber 2006 event. It let fly doing about 190kph down a fence-line and ended the race for us. It appears that something may have been wearing away the outside (smooth side) of the belt resulting in its failure. |
Fatigue Cracking

Pictured left, is a set of cracks we found on the front left knuckle. This may have been due to the stub axle being loose for a couple of races before we got the car, or not. If there's one place you don't want a failure, it's in the front suspension. Needless to say, this damage has since been re-welded. |
