Just returned from another short course at Harvey. The track facilities are getting quite reasonable good. There's now a bar area, food building and toilet block (plumbing unconnected as yet). Dust was going to be an issue, however the water truck ran around quite a few times during the night and it wasn't really a problem at all.
The Dazda was running just fine for the first two rounds; then we hit the back of the car/truck that had parked on the road in front of us (I'm sure they'd give a different explanation!). Staved in the front right fender and blew/smashed all the lights, bar the front left low beam (which was completely covered in mud). We'd also managed to mostly rip the front right radius arm mount from the front cross member. The result of this was a kink in the bottom of the strut. Even with all this damage we still managed to overtake the offending vehicle and complete the round.
Fourth round was a bit of a rush. We'd bolted additional wheel nuts onto the studs on the inside of the right front wheel, in an effort to separate the tyre from the spring (on ya Jez!). Completed the fourth round ok and parked the car for the night.
Looks like a rebuild might be in order! Just wondering how I can get this past the missus???
Racing's now gone into it summer hiatus, but we'll be back in February.
Considering buying a digital camera, so I might get some pics of the tracks. Stay tuned...
