Electrical - "Can you smell something burning?"
The electrical work in the Commodore was very similar to the Datsun. Everything was pushed behind a custom ally dash, all connections were crimped then soldered, connectors were either original factory items (to retain the moisture seals) or sealed 3rd party items, gauges were the same VDO Vision Series stuff that the Datsun ran, and we ran a mandatory battery isolator (on the -ve battery connection).

Spaghetti junction!
We only encountered a few problems with the electrical system:
- The stock starter motor on a 308 is wayyyy to close to the exhaust. As a result, when the starter gets hot, the engine cranks very slowly and often fails to fire. As previously mentioned, we replaced the unit with a high-torque rotatable unit, and the starting problems disappeared.
- The alternators that get shipped with the import quad-cams appear to suffer in either transit or storage (similarly the water pumps). We had two import alternators die on us before rebuilding one locally that just kept on going.
- Those cheap battery isolators are annoying. They work fine the first few times, but because they're not sealed, after a bit of water gets in them, the contacts die and cranking the engine becomes an issue. Either mount the things out of reach of water/mud or buy something better.

Dash (built in pivot) rebuild in progress, and then the finished result (complete with Terratrip).
